Boston United appointed Tommy Taylor as their new manager on July 13, 2007. The 55-year-old joined the Pilgrims to end the club's search for a new boss, which started on May 27, 2007 when Steve Evans resigned from his post as United manager.
Taylor brought a wealth of experience with him, as United prepared to embark on life in Blue Square North for the first time.
Taylor arrived at York Street after resigning from his coaching and scouting role at Coca-Cola League Two outfit Peterborough United. He had initially joined Peterborough from Southern League side King's Lynn in November 2006, where he enjoyed great success in his two seasons at the Walks Stadium.
Taylor's playing career was spent primarily with Leyton Orient and West Ham United, although he did have a brief spell playing in Belgium with AFC Beerschot and subsequently in America with Team Hawaii. Taylor helped West Ham lift the FA Cup in 1975 and played a total of 396 games for the Hammers, scoring eight goals in the process.
His managerial career began at Maidstone United and then included spells in charge at Cambridge United, Leyton Orient, Darlington, Farnborough Town and King's Lynn, plus coaching stints abroad in Singapore, Ohio (USA) and New Zealand.
