Online commentary deal extended

BBC Radio Lincolnshire is pleased to announce that it will provide ONLINE commentary of all Boston United's home and away matches in Blue Square North over the remainder of the season.

It follows a successful trial of commentary of away games on the Internet. The station's sports editor, Michael Hortin, said: "Our trial period has been attracting recording-breaking numbers to our Listen Live service at bbc.co.uk/lincolnshire.

"It's been hugely popular with Boston people, but we've also had e-mails from Pilgrims exiles across the rest of the country and from around the world including fans in Las Vegas, Germany, France, Canada, Thailand and the Isles of Scilly," Michael added.

"It's clear the level of interest in Boston United is just as high as when the Pilgrims were in the Football League and today's announcement means fans will be able to hear commentary of more Boston games than have been available before," said managing editor Charlie Partridge.

"Over the last few years we have been able to bring Boston fans some great highs and lows from their team and fans will now be able to hear this season's dramas unfold every step of the way," Charlie added.

Decisions on commentary on FA Cup games and FA Trophy matches will be made on merit at the time of each match while there's unlikely to be any commentary on Setanta Shield matches unless Boston progress to the later stages.

Listeners who don't have access to the Internet, will still get regular updates of the matches and the goals as they go in on BBC Radio Lincolnshire.

The next full-match commentary is available on Saturday on bbc.co.uk/lincolnshire as Boston United take on Worcester City at the Staffsmart Stadium. Scott Dalton and Chris Cook will be providing the commentary.
