Latest press release from BUFCST:

Having held its first AGM on Friday October 12, 2007, the Boston United Football Club Supporters Trust (BUFCST) has now been formally established, and is up and running to help secure the long term future of Boston United Football Club.

It was very significant that the club chairman Mr David Newton, the vice-chairman Mr Neil Kempster and team manager Mr Tommy Taylor were in attendance to show their support and backing for the future of the BUFCST.

BUFCST acting chairman Mel Moxon stated: "To have this show of support from Boston United Football Club could only be dreamed of a few months ago."

It was determined that the BUFCST will be linking up with the Boston United Centre of Excellence and will be staging a number of fundraising events throughout the next 12 months to raise the significant funds required to ensure that the boys throughout the various age groups have the opportunity to fulfil their potential and maybe one day play for the first team of Boston United.

Everyone was reminded by Mr Moxon, and Mr Newton, of the club's massive debt and the need for supporters not to fall into a comfort zone but to get involved in any way they can to help ensure that the club becomes debt free and thriving as a true community club, over a period of five to six years, before any consideration is given to improving the club's ageing facilities.

At the AGM, it was announced that the BUFCST had just received approval from Boston Borough Council to organise a 5k Santa Fun Run on Sunday December 9, 2007, in the town, and it was hoped that other local organisations will use this event to raise funds for not just their own organisation, but also the BUFCST.

The BUFCST will be contacting local organisations, in the near future, about their involvement in the Santa Fun Run, and further information will be made available on the BUFCST website www.bufcst.org.uk or by contacting Chris Cook on (01205) 355355.

The BUFCST implore all supporters of Boston United Football Club, as well as the parents and grandparents of the lads already associated with the BUFC Centre of Excellence, to help us make it work. It is the supporters' chance to achieve a fans representation at the club, where their ideas and views can be heard and be acted upon by the club's board.

This is a marvellous new era of co-operation by owners of BUFC who care passionately, but can only succeed with the help and support of the whole community of BOSTON.
