Boston United manager Tommy Taylor has stepped up his search for new recruits ahead of the 2008-2009 campaign.
The United boss attended the Premier League exit trials at Warwick University on Wednesday morning, before heading back to the Staffsmart Stadium to take in a trial match featuring various players ranging from the Coca-Cola Championship to local football.
Reflecting on his scouting missions, Taylor told bufc.co.uk: “It’s been a busy day, but hopefully a productive one.
“We have highlighted several players from the Premier League trials that we would like to have another look at, but there were plenty of managers, coaches and scouts in attendance from Football League clubs, so I’m sure there will be lots of competition for the players concerned.
“I think we do have one advantage though and that is being able to offer 18-year-olds the chance to play regular first team football, whereas they may go to Football League clubs and just be squad players.
“We also held a trial match in Boston and that contained players from Football League clubs too, plus a couple of highly-rated local lads.
“We have watched plenty of lads in action today, but even if we only pick one good one up, it’s been a successful day.
“It’s all about building for the future and that process is well under way."
