Boston United’s under-18s will entertain Scunthorpe United in the Puma Youth Alliance Cup on Saturday morning – just 36 hours after playing in the FA Youth Cup.
The Pilgrims were pushed all the way by Carlton Town on Thursday evening before recording a 5-0 victory, but youth team boss Steve Welsh is concerned that ‘weary legs’ will be a problem on Saturday morning.
He told bufc.co.uk: “The cup match will undoubtedly have taken a lot out of the players and there could be a few changes made to that side.
"We had a good result at Carlton and now want to follow that up in our other cup competition against Scunthorpe.”
The two sides have already met once at RAF College Cranwell this season, with The Iron winning 1-0.
Welsh will be without Aaron Butcher, Alex Beck and Mitchell Griffiths, who are all on the first team duty, while Nathan Thompson (damaged knee) and Marc Day (broken nose) are both sidelined too.
United have called up under-16s goalkeeper Andrew Hewitt and winger Jason Field and under-15s striker Tom Hopper.
