Griffiths heading for Ilkeston

Youngster Mitchell Griffiths has joined Blue Square North outfit Ilkeston Town.

The 18-year-old, who made 18 appearances for the Pilgrims in 2008-2009, was offered a pre-season trial by new bosses Rob Scott and Paul Hurst, but has taken up a contract offer from the Blue Square North newcomers.

Fellow former Pilgrim Jon Froggatt is also rumoured to be close to completing a switch to Ilkeston.

Meanwhile, veteran midfield duo Ben Sedgemore and David Farrell have linked up with Stamford — alongside Chris Wright and Danny Matson.

Nine of last season’s United squad are still seeking new clubs — Ryan Clarke, Liam Green, Kieran Leabon, Martyn Margarson, Tom Matthews, Steve Melton, Ricky Miller, Jon Rowan and Michael Wood.
