Pilgrims snap up Stags defender
Article Date: 1 Jul 2009
Chris Wood
Boston United have recruited Mansfield Town defender Chris Wood as their sixth summer signing.
The 22-year-old is capable of playing at right-back or centre-half and has joined the Pilgrims following his release by Blue Square Premier outfit Mansfield.
The Worksop-born player progressed from the Field Mill youth ranks and spent two successful loan spells with Ilkeston Town — one of which was under the management of Rob Scott and Paul Hurst last season.
Following Wood’s capture, Scott told bufc.co.uk: “Chris is another versatile performer, who will add quality and depth to our defensive options.
“The squad is starting to come together nicely and Chris’ arrival compliments what we already have onboard.”
Wood made 15 appearances for Mansfield in the Football League, having been awarded his first professional contract in 2006.
