There was a big smile on the face of defender Shaun Pearson following the final whistle against Retford United on Tuesday evening.

Boston United’s defensive colossus excelled at both ends of the pitch to help the Pilgrims chalk up a crucial away win against one of their title rivals.

Pearson revealed his pride of scoring the game’s winning goal, but insisted the whole team should share the glory.

The young defender also looked ahead to the remainder of the season and Saturday’s Challenge Cup semi-final against Curzon Ashton — which could yet lead to another meeting with Retford in the final.
