Keith Alexander RIP
Calling all Boston United supporters. If you are not travelling to Curzon Ashton on Saturday, why not lend your support to ‘Keith Alexander Day’ instead?
Macclesfield Town are inviting supporters of every club who has been touched by the presence of the late Keith Alexander to the Moss Rose.
The Silkmen play host to Bury, one of Keith Alexander’s former clubs, on Saturday in their first home game since the sad passing of the hugely popular football man.
“It is very fitting that we should be playing a club with links to Keith Alexander,” said Silkmen vice-chairman Andy Scott. “While Bury supporters will obviously be well represented on the day, we are also inviting supporters of every club which Keith either played for or managed to the Moss Rose this weekend.”
Keith Alexander played for clubs up and down the country, from Stockport County to Kettering Town and from Barnet to Cliftonville in Northern Ireland and Macclesfield would like to see as many different replica shirts on show as possible, as the club celebrates the life of a hugely respected man.
He played for the Pilgrims during the 1980-1981 campaign.
“Keith was a real football man,” added Andy Scott. “And we cannot think of a better tribute than to see fans sporting their colours on the terraces remembering his achievements with their clubs.”
