New video service launchedArticle Date: 18 Mar 2006 The club are pleased to announce the release of new official online video services for web and mobile. Fans will now be able to download full quality match highlights, watch goals and other clips online, and send selected clips to compatible mobile phones. Additionally, player and manager video interviews will be posted regularly to the site. Match video footage is available now for all home games in the Coca-Cola League 2 (including all matches so far this season) and we hope to add away footage as soon as possible. To watch the match action, follow the links from the match reports. Interviews and other club videos are linked to from the homepage and under newsroom.
The video quality is excellent thanks to the use of advanced MPEG-4 compression which is widely acknowledged by the experts to be the best available, and is found in next generation hardware such as set top boxes and personal players such as the iPod video.
There is a substantial amount of time required to manage a video service and the hardware and software involved in video capture, production and compression are not cheap either. However the club has endeavoured to make the service as reasonably priced as possible. This is to encourage take up of the service and take advantage of the hugely improved communication between the fans and the club that video will offer. Download service Full quality 20-40MB files are offered for download for not much more than the price of an MP3 song! Streaming service Flat rate monthly access is offered to other online video such as goals and interviews for a similar low price. DVD service Don't forget that a third option is to take advantage of the excellent matchday DVD service for all home games. Please note that we are not permitted at this time to offer FA Cup footage online. If this legal situation changes, we will also seek to provide this footage.
Our web video service uses the latest version of Apple's free Quicktime plugin. You should make sure your computer has this installed and working before you sign up to any video services.
Please read our video help page for more information on compatibility and technical help. For fans planning on sending videos to their mobile phone, please ensure you read the requirements carefully. Your phone must support video, GPRS and should be able to access a general Internet url (e.g. Try "Go to URL" and enter "bbc.co.uk"). Bear in mind also that sending a video file to a mobile phone can take a few minutes so please be patient while downloading and also remember that some handsets can display confusing messages (e.g. the Samsung D500 says "connecting" the whole time it is downloading a file). Please let us know, using the order messaging system, if you have followed the instructions but still encounter technical difficulties. To all subscribers: we very much appreciate your support in making this service viable. Sit back and enjoy the show! Match Quick Links
