Centre of Excellence
Boston United Centre of Excellence... In association with Paragon Print and Packaging.
The Centre of Excellence set-up at the Staffsmart Stadium continues to flourish and the 2007-2008 campaign will be the organisation's fifth season in existence.
After being established in the summer of 2003 under the guidance of former professional footballers Daral Pugh and Neil Richardson, the Centre has undergone personnel changes since, but continues to prosper under the watchful eye of Steve Welsh.
The former Peterborough United, Cambridge United and Lincoln City centre-half took on the role as head of youth development in the autumn of 2005 and has seen the Centre continue to expand, with the 2007-2008 season seeing six age groups in operation for the first time.
United's under-18s compete in the Puma Youth Alliance on a weekly basis.
Welsh is backed by a team of dedicated part-time coaches, while under-11s head coach John Thorogood is the scheme's youth administrator and is the contact for any queries relating to the scheme on a day-to-day basis.
Teams at under-9s/10s, under-11s, under-12s, under-13s/14s, under-15s and under-16s will be in action during 2007-2008.
