Miller joins the Pilgrims' ranks
Article Date: 3 Nov 2006
Ian Miller
Boston United have completed the loan signing of Ipswich Town
centre-half Ian Miller, with the 22-year-old moving to the Staffsmart
Stadium on an initial one-month loan deal.
The player was snapped up by boss Steve Evans with Mark Greaves and
Mark Albrighton both unavailable due to suspension on Saturday and
Miller is expected to be thrown straight in at the deep end against
Notts County.
Miller joined the Tractor Boys in the summer for an undisclosed fee
from non-league side Bury Town and although he’s still awaiting his
first team debut at Portman Road, Evans had no qualms in recruiting the
up-and-coming stopper on a temporary basis.
The United manager watched Miller in action for Ipswich reserves during
midweek and made his move to bring the highly-rated defender to
Lincolnshire in time for Saturday’s important Coca-Cola League Two
fixture against the Magpies.
Evans told bufc.co.uk: “I was very impressed by what I saw from
Ian. He is strong and quick and I believe he will be a good acquisition
for the squad.
“Ian came into professional football during the summer and the staff at
Ipswich, including Jim Magilton and Andy Rhodes, have recognised that
he has come on leaps and bounds during that time, so they saw a loan
move as the next step in that progression.”
Miller will wear squad number 24 at the Staffsmart Stadium.
